Getting older is a challenge but no different from other life challenges. I am an older adult focused social worker because I want to help others navigate this challenge and make it smoother if possible. We can reframe aging, we can make it ours, not somebody else's story or path.  To age gracefully is a myth, age how you want to but do it with support. I embrace aging in every facet. I love working for others and learning their life stories and how they embrace aging. I grew up with Great Grandma's which impacted me greatly and taught me how important it is to embrace who you are until the very end of life. Life does not end due to aging and for some it can change for the better believe it or not (I will show you!). I love finding solution for older adults and their families, whether that be just helping to understand physical and cognitive changes, getting a power of attorney established, finding resources to keep one safe at home, or providing the emotional supports for life changes. Everyone is so unique, which is the best part of serving!
